Biography

Jamie Wainwright is a singer, actor, dancer and model based in London, UK.

Born in Southampton on 6th May 1984, he first started performing at the age of 7 when he started dance classes in ballet, tap and modern as well as joining the school choir.  Throughout his school years, Jamie was often involved in school productions and spent time studying the Piano.  When he was 13, Jamie moved to Southport, Merseyside, where he became involved in the local youth theatre - SONG - and with the Southport Amateur Operatic Society and Southport Dramatic Club.  During this time, he was regularly seen in Southport theatres in productions such as Grand Hotel, Annie Get Your Gun, Big - The Musical, Cabaret and Whistle Down The Wind.

After leaving school at 16 in 2000, Jamie went on to study for a BTec National Diploma in Performing Arts at Southport College.

In 2002, Jamie received a Dance and Drama Award to attend the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in central London.  In 2004 he continued his training at the London School of Musical Theatre, from which he graduated  in August 2005.  Whilst at LSMT, Jamie created the role of Chiron in the world premiere of Charles Miller's musical, Jason and the Argonauts, at the Cochrane Theatre, London.

Since graduating, Jamie has worked professionally as a performer on regional tours, international tours, cruise ships and in film.  He has recently finished 6 months touring the UK with the Derek Grant Organisation in various theatre productions, including 'The Snow Queen' starring Crossroads actress Jane Rossington.

Jamie has just returned to the UK from Portugal where he was engaged as a vocalist for The Production Associates.  He will be taking the title role of Dick Whittington in pantomime at the Ferneham Hall, Fareham, Hampshire for Keith Harris Productions from December 2008.
